3 days public holiday to celebrate Christmas

Raksirang Rural Municipality of Makwanpur has given three days public holiday to celebrate Christmas, the great festival of Christians.

 

The municipality has given a public holiday from Sunday to Tuesday (three days) to celebrate Christmas.

 

The rural municipality has issued a statement and informed that all public offices, government offices, educational institutions and banks and financial institutions within the rural municipality will remain closed during this period. Ward-5 chairman Hari Bahadur Praja, who is also the spokesperson of the rural municipality, informed that the decision to give three days leave was made at the meeting of the executive committee.

He said that since Monday is a public holiday for Christmas and Tuesday for Udhauli festival, the executive meeting decided to make Sunday a public holiday as well.

According to him, more than 46 percent of the people in the rural municipality believe in Christianity. Celebrating Christmas starts from 6th. Spokesman Praja informed that a public holiday was given on that day as it is celebrated with special importance within the municipality.
