Sandeep Lamichhane was found innocent, now in the World Cup

Cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane has been acquitted by the Patan High Court in the rape case. District Court Kathmandu overturned the verdict and found him innocent.

 

In the case filed by Gaushala 26 (name changed), the district court found Sandeep guilty and sentenced him to 8 years in prison. Sandeep appealed to the higher court demanding the reversal of the decision. After hearing arguments from both sides yesterday and today, the High Court bench of Justices Sudarshandev Bhatt and Anju Upreti Dhakal acquitted Sandeep.

After the decision of the High Court, Sandeep is eligible to return to cricket. The Nepal Cricket Association suspended him after the district court found him guilty. After the decision of the High Court, the suspension has been immediately lifted and the way to play in the T20 World Cup has opened.
